At Wairau Pass Homestay / B&B we pride ourselves on our customer focus - whatever you want, we will do our utmost to provide.

Our aim is to ensure you a warm welcome and help you to enjoy your stay, leaving with, perhaps, a little touch of regret.

We also like to think that, unlike so many businesses, the above statement is made sincerely. We don't give lip service to the treatment of our guests. In fact we don't think of Wairau Pass as a business. For us it's a lifestyle and one that we would like to share with you.

Location
St.Arnaud is a small sub-alpine village. It is located on State Highway 63, just over an hour's drive from Blenheim on the way to the West Coast and about the same distance south of Nelson city. Our homestay is 9km east of St Arnaud on the saddle of Wairau Pass (Wairau Valley Highway). Look for us at the top of the hill as you drive out of the Wairau Valley, (Marlborough) or on the corner of Tophouse Road and State Highway 63 - SEE MAP.

Complimentary tea, coffee and home baking is available upstairs at all times.

You are welcome to use laundry and drying room facilities.

Tramping & Hiking
The Nelson Lakes National Park and surrounding areas are renowned for their tramping opportunities. From pleasant walks of a few minutes to multi-day alpine epics, the area has it all. See our "WALKS" page.

Fishing
The fishing is world famous. We can point you in the right direction if you want to "do your own thing" and chase the local brown trout or travel to Rotoroa to try for a rainbow. If, however, you want some assistance we can make the necessary arrangements with one of our experienced local guides who will endeavour to put you on to that beauty. Please make sure you don't spread 'rock snot' Didymo!

Ski/Winter Sports
Wairau Pass Homestay / B&B is the closest accommodation to the Rainbow ski field. Stay with us for a really wonderful skiing and snow boarding holiday. Travel by shuttle bus to the ski field, enjoy a day's skiing then return to the homestay for a hot shower, a welcome drink and a pleasant evening meal while your clothes dry in our drying room ready for the next day of action. Wholesome packed lunches are also available for those venturing onto the field.

Ice skating is available at the pond near St Arnaud with ice skates hired from the local shop.

Mountain Biking
There are many mountain biking opportunities within a short distance of the homestay. These range from easy family grade tracks to extreme off-road experiences. Take a leisurely ride around the Speargrass Flats or try the famous Rainbow ride. We would recommend the breathtaking views from Beeby's Knob, right at the homestay's back door, or Red Hills. Bring your own bike or hire one from us, or the Village Shop (pre-booking required).

Water Sports
Though the water can be chilly at times, there are numerous opportunities to indulge in the water sport of your choice on either of the two lakes or on the mighty Buller river. Be it yachting, kayaking, waterskiing or swimming, there are great areas for all to enjoy. The spectacular scenery of the area adds to the enjoyment.

Hunting
The Nelson Lakes area supports moderate populations of red deer, chamois, wild pig and goats.

Gliding
The Nelson Gliding Club Inc. operates from the Lake Station Airstrip most weekends in summer.
